Małopolska invests in science: a PLN 20 million project is launched at IB PAS
We are proud to announce that the W. Szafer Institute of Botany, Polish Academy of Sciences, has received funding to establish the "Center for Technologically Useful Organisms (CouTech)" under the European Funds for Małopolska 2021–2027 programme. The total value of the project exceeds PLN 20 million, with nearly PLN 14 million awarded in funding.
This prestigious award will enable the purchase and development of unique research infrastructure, forming the basis for a platform connecting science and industry. The project will support, among others, the creation of a database of organisms with confirmed technological value, as well as the development of services operating in the "living lab" model. The initiative responds to contemporary needs of science, industry, and local communities, particularly in the areas of knowledge and technology transfer.
In total, more than PLN 214 million was awarded to 14 scientific institutions from Małopolska in this competition. We are pleased that our Institute has joined the group of beneficiaries, alongside two other institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences — the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry PAS and the Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics PAS. Through this project, our Institute will contribute to the development of innovative research infrastructure in the region and help strengthen Małopolska’s position as a leader in science in Poland.
